Skincare and Self-Care During Pregnancy — in collaboration with Ayurveda coach Marleen Dijkhoff

Pregnancy is a period of profound physical and emotional transformation. Your skin reflects these changes, and with pure, nourishing ingredients, you can support this special phase and enhance your natural glow.

To celebrate the launch of Marleen Dijkhoff’s new book, we are joining forces to share essential do’s and don’ts for balanced, radiant skin during pregnancy.

Do’s for radiant skin during pregnancy

Choose clean, non-toxic skincare.
The skin absorbs a large amount of what you apply to it. Gentle, natural formulas such as those from emerginC are safe and effective for both mother and baby.

Hydrate and protect your skin barrier.
Hormonal changes can make the skin drier or more sensitive. Products from the Rawceuticals line offer excellent protection, but all our creams are pregnancy-safe. In case of redness, the D-red serum can provide support thanks to 30 soothing plant extracts and vitamin B.

Address pigmentation naturally.
Vitamin C helps reduce pregnancy-related pigmentation (melasma) and brighten the complexion. Use the standard C serum for this, not the 20% version.

Embrace soothing rituals.
Within Ayurveda, daily self-care plays an important role in reducing stress and restoring balance. Take time for cleansing, gentle massage and mindful breathing.

Don’ts during pregnancy

Do not use harsh acids, retinoids or chemical peels.
These can be too intense for pregnancy-sensitive skin and are not recommended.

Never skip SPF.
Hormonal fluctuations make the skin more prone to pigmentation. Daily protection is essential.

Do not overload your skin.
Keep your routine simple and choose a few high-quality products that support balance and recovery.

emerginC’s pregnancy-safe skincare ritual

Rawceuticals Clean Cleansing Oil — a soothing, nourishing oil cleanser that dissolves impurities without disrupting the skin barrier. Also suitable for the growing belly, hair and nails.

Vitality Mask — rich in vitamins E, F and H, shea butter and squalane. Antioxidants such as Q10 provide a soft glow without irritation.

Hyper-Vitalizer Cream — intensely hydrating, protective and ideal for tired, dull skin.

Vitamin C Serum — helps even out the complexion, reduces pigmentation and provides natural radiance.

Once a week: Blue Poppy Enzyme Polish for pigmentation or impurities. For the gentlest exfoliation: Rawceuticals Red Berry Dual Mask & Gommage.

We also recommend the Scientific Organics Waterlily Radiance Facial for relaxation, recovery and a soft glow.
For ultimate self-care: book a somatic massage with Madli Miller from Holistic Health and Beauty in Bloemendaal — according to Marleen, “the best treatment she has ever had”.

From Marleen Dijkhoff

“Pregnancy invites us to slow down and connect deeply with our bodies. Ayurveda reminds us that what we apply to our skin should be just as pure as what we eat. The clean formulations from emerginC fit perfectly within this philosophy.”
