Advice for dehydrated skin

Dehydrated skin contains too little water. This is not a fixed skin type, but a temporary skin condition that can occur with dry, oily, or combination skin. The skin may feel tight, dull, and less supple, show fine dehydration lines, and still appear shiny or have blemishes.

The solution is to hydrate the skin and lock in moisture. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, sodium PCA, and aloe vera attract moisture and help bind it in the skin. A suitable cream with ceramides or squalane then reduces moisture loss and supports the skin barrier. Avoid harsh cleansing, drying alcohol, and exfoliating too often. Preferably apply hydrating products to slightly damp skin and finish with a cream suited to your skin type. You can also apply a final rich oil or balm as an occlusive layer to help lock in moisture.
