Advice for oily skin

Oily skin produces more sebum and is therefore more prone to shine, visible pores, congestion, and blemishes. The tendency is often to cleanse this skin extra thoroughly and treat it aggressively. However, over-cleansing, harsh exfoliation, and products containing drying alcohol or sulfates can disrupt the skin barrier. The skin becomes irritated and unbalanced, which can actually worsen shine and sebum production.

Oil can also play a valuable role when used correctly. A good oil cleanser helps dissolve excess sebum, SPF, and makeup without stripping the skin: oil dissolves oil. Lightweight, non-comedogenic oils can also support the skin barrier without feeling heavy. Combine this with lightweight hydration, for example with niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and aloe vera, and exfoliate regularly but gently. This keeps the skin clean, hydrated, and better balanced.

STEP 1 CLEANSING

Cleansing the skin is the important first step in your skincare ritual. Use a fragrance-free, sulfate-free cleanser that cleanses thoroughly without drying out your skin, such as the Multi Fruit Cleanser, which exfoliates at the same time, or the Deglazing Cleanser. The Kombucha Cleanser is also a good choice if you prefer to go 100% natural. The Boreal Toner is wonderful for this skin type, as is the Lavender Toner, or the Deglazing Toner if your skin is really prone to breakouts.
