Kombucha for your skin

Some will be completely familiar with kombucha, others will have heard the name but have no idea what it is. In this blog, we'll tell you about kombucha, its beneficial properties and what kombucha can do for your skin.

About ten years ago it was discovered that kombucha has a lot of good properties. Or discovered, the Chinese knew this for a long time, there it has been a popular drink for centuries, or even millennia. From China it became known in Russia. We were a little later... In fact, it was not at all that long ago that it was also discovered in Western countries what great properties kombucha has.

What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is made from fermented tea with sugar and a culture (fungus) of bacteria and various types of yeast. It has been around for more than 2,000 years and originated in China. The drink is usually made from black tea, but when made from green tea, it has a stronger antioxidant effect. The name kombucha is probably a misinterpretation of the Japanese konbu-cha which is the name of a tea made with kelp. At the time, English explorers called the drink that, but kelp tea is a very different drink.

Kombucha Cocktails

As a beverage, kombucha is popular not only for its good properties, but also because it is an aromatic drink that serves well as a substitute for alcoholic beverages. However, kombucha itself does have a light alcohol content. Plenty of recipes can be found for delicious cocktails with Kombucha. How about a Pomegranate Kombucha Mimosa or a Kombucha Dark and Stormy?

Probiotics and antioxidants in kombucha

Kombucha is known for its good health properties. Namely, it contains natural probiotics and antioxidants. Probiotics ensure a healthy intestinal system and antioxidants fight free radicals. Therefore, drinking kombucha boosts metabolism, detoxifies the liver and regulates blood sugar levels. It is also said to help against diabetes, arthritis and bacteria-induced diseases. In any case, it strengthens the immune system.
