Peel master class -which way of exfoliating is best for you?

Smooth, even and radiant skin is what everyone wants. That's why so many different types of scrubs and peels are sold. But if you don't choose the right one, you can damage your skin or make problems like pigmentation and break outs worse. That's why this short master class.

Three different types

There are three different types of product to exfoliate with at home. The important thing is to choose the right kind for you. Mechanical, fruit acid and enzymatic peels (we do not recommend chemical peels for home use).

Mechanical: These are the scrubs and polishes. They contain bits that you use to polish the skin. They are good for ridding the skin of loose skins, and removing too much excess sebum. The important thing is to handle these gently, in small circular motions. Your face is not a sink! Nor should you use them on open, damaged skin. They are good for minor skin maintenance. Our Rawceuticals Red Berry Dual Mask and Gommage is a great example, where you also get the nutrition and hydration you need because it doubles as a mask. For beautiful, clear skin, with a beautiful glow.

Peels : if you want a deeper effect: go for the fruit acid. At emerginC, we only use beautiful natural acids and not Chlorine compounds like TCA. Our Triple Threat Peel is the strongest. It is a combination of acids. All acids work differently, and together form an effective team for smoother, hydrated skin. The beautiful anti aging action by glycolic acid refines skin texture, replenishes hydration, and stimulates collagen and elastin production.

Retinol has a good anti-wrinkle effect, and lactic acid (from blueberries!) provides hydration and soft skin. Salicylic acid scrubs pores well, but in the process also has anti-wrinkle effects. Tartaric acid dissolves the connection between dead cells so that the other acids can sweep them up nicely. Real Teamwork! This is pre-eminently a good anti-aging peel, follow up dam with the Vitality mask for swirling results. ALSO good if you suffer from clogged pores or have acne scars.

The Scientific Organics At Home Peel and clarifying kit is ideally suited for pigmentation and impurities. Again, a nice team of different natural acids is at work. But you follow it up with a clarifying pad infused with all sorts of clarifying and anti-inflammatory botanical extracts and pigment equalizer Palmaria Palmata.

Enzymatic peels: This form is less strong than a fruit acid peel, but stronger than a scrub. Plant enzymes dissolve dead skin cells, providing a thorough cleanse in a very gentle way. The Scientific Organics Blue Poppy Seed Enzyme Polish has three different enzymes from papaya, raspberry and a Chinese mushroom that provides well-hydrated, super-smooth skin. This polish is suitable for any skin type. There is also a mechanical element to it, which are the little poppy seeds. You can exfoliate with those, on rough spots or around the nostrils, but you can also leave it. Then just let the enzymes do their work. Due to turmeric and tea tree leaf also slightly antiseptic and very suitable for sensitive skin.
