PIE IN YOUR FACE

Silke of Indigo Cosmetics, who has been working on pure and good ingredients for the face for years, wanted to ask a few questions of good food queen Miljuschka Witzenhausen, who does the same in the kitchen with pure and good ingredients. Pie in your face!

When Miljuschka was forced to turn her life around years ago, she decided to see adversity as an opportunity and use her cooking talent for a living. This has led to a true empire with its own TV shows, books and dinnerware lines, and we think that is very clever! Miljuschka herself is too good to be true, of course.

Miljuschka and Silke met where superfood ingredients prove their function in a different way: the pure products of emerginC. Miljuschka uses many of the ingredients in the 3 lines of this brand on a weekly basis, such as berries, avocado, cumin seed, turmeric and cocoa. In addition, emerginC is a cosmeceutical, which also implements scientific breakthroughs for optimal results. And produces consciously, also important for Miljuschka.

With a busy mother who runs her own business and often gets makeup plastered on, the skin suffers quite a bit. Stress, lack of sleep, reactive, troubled skin from makeup and an irregular life with lots of travel.... You have to deal with it.

When Miljuschka came to us with some skin questions, Silke recognized it immediately. Because she went through exactly the same thing when she was a model. What do you do with an overburdened skin that feels dry, oily and sensitive at the same time? And where you want to put some anti-aging artillery to use because when you're 60 you don't want to be able to reach your bags with your tongue, but you also don't want to be as tightly drawn and stapled as a bar stool? Fortunately, someone always has the answer and that is our own Mother Nature. There are so many things you can do to look fresh again quickly, as long as you know what; and that's what we're happy to ask Miljuschka a few questions about.

What are your go-to rescue products when you need a pick-me-up or are experiencing a minor crisis? To eat and lubricate? Yes, there is that crisis on a regular basis. I often have a jet lag and sleep deprivation and eat worse. Now I'm renovating. Anabella from Anabellas Beauty Room (head therapist of emerginC) is my life line. What a power woman she is! No matter what condition I arrive in, she always knows how to make my skin better. She works with your skin, rather than fighting a battle.

As for eating - well, food is my drug. During stressful periods, I tend to overeat. Fortunately, I like fruits and vegetables a lot. My mother used to have a vegetable stall at the market and I learned to eat everything, even the somewhat stronger flavors. I can eat trays of watermelon, but also mango, grapefruit and green vegetables. It's asparagus season now and you couldn't make me happier!

In real skin emergencies I call Anabella, but at home I use the emerginC multi vitamin retinol serum. I have the idea that those colored balls (M's delightful way of pointing out product!) has an immediate effect. It makes my skin more calm and beautiful.

What is your ultimate favorite product? What product do you think everyone should have? That serum. And the Lavender toner, it's fantastic. Smells great and really works.

Do you believe that when you eat certain things, it has an effect on your skin? Kim Kardashian says she doesn't drink alcohol for a month before a shoot, because apparently that effect lasts that long. Do you have things you don't or especially do eat before a spin day or shoot I don't watch my food at all before a shoot. I will happily knock back a Whopper if I feel like it. Recently I had a shoot for the Linda and then I reluctantly start exercising 3 times a week, but then immediately stop when the shoot is over. I now had a shoot for Beau Monde and did absolutely nothing, and thought, I accept myself as I am, then the rest of the world probably does too. The reactions to the photos are very good, anyway, so I think that's true.

This is also because I have managed to gather a good team around me. What you see with all the stars on TV, is really not the work or the performance of a person, ALSO the appearance. There is a whole team involved.

I really needed to get myself into a beauty regime. I've never been that concerned with that and was never good at it. I'm good at cooking, but I had zero clue about everything else that comes with my job. Send me into a clothing store or a Douglas, and I'm bound to come home with a bag full of the wrong thing, which ends up unused in the back of a closet.

I do notice that my skin needs more and more maintenance. When I started at TMF they gave me the tip to take off my make-up immediately after a day of filming. I thought, I look completely finished, I'm not going to take it off? It didn't bother me at all. Now I notice that at the end of the day you can already have a kind of rash from the makeup and the warm lights in the studio.

With all these changing conditions, traveling, different climates, remodeling.... Do you also change your beauty regime? In that respect I am a bit of an autist, haha. As I said, I really had to teach myself to follow a regime. And I do that faithfully now, and always the same. What Anabella advises me to do. That works for me and I don't experiment with it. If I do cheat because I forgot to bring something or because I ran out, I notice it immediately.

What does beauty mean to you? And age? Are you allowed to consider yourself beautiful? I think I have good hardware, shall we say. And I do my best to maintain that by now. For me it's not an end in itself, I use it to achieve my goal, but I don't attach too much value to it. For some women it is a way of life to keep looking the way they did when they were young. I don't have that.

With criticism, I can handle it quite well. People are entitled to their opinions and I have noticed that criticism never comes 'from standstill'. It is a movement, from the perception of that person himself. So never very objective. It says more about the person themselves than it does about me. For example, I was once told that I must be divorced because I put my career first instead of my marriage. That person is looking at things from their own perspective, not from my situation. I can put that in perspective.

So what you say is yourself, rightfully so. She says that beautifully, and we can all learn something from that. Conclusion: Miljuschka is not only beautiful to look at, she is also pleasant to listen to. And she also makes killer cakes.
