Why vitamin A? Is vitamin A safe? Retinol/vitamin A? At Indigo Cosmetics we get a lot of questions about vitamin A. There are even entire brands built around it, and that it produces results against wrinkles and acne is now well known and documented. But unfortunately there are also many reports of harmful side effects; your skin becomes very sensitive to sunlight. Pigmentation problems are lurking, you can get hypersensitivities, your skin can become weakened, very red and flaky.

That's why at emerginC we only use RETINOL, a different form of vitamin A than retinoic acid (retin-A). You get the same results, but just a little slower. Our retinol is extracted from carrots in our own lab. So it's all natural and well tolerated. It has been proven that a concentration of 0.3% used over a long period of time gives the best results without side effects. EmerginC products do not contain high concentrations for this reason.
Silke: " I was once prescribed vitamin A cream and my skin went crazy. It could well be that under all that skin and redness there were fewer wrinkles but I didn't dare look in the mirror long enough to find out. Also, my pigmentation was worsening! The products from emerginC that contain retinol I can all use safely, with no nasty side effects: Multi-Vitamin + Retinol Serum, Complexion Perfexion, Pomegranate Toner, Triple Threat Peel, Sun SPF, Triple Threat Cream and our Vitamin C + Retinol Mask.
